For as long as Cody and Kari can remember, they’ve both loved Jesus, had a heart for worship, and been passionate about entering into God’s presence. It’s a calling that propels them in life, unites them in marriage, and is unquestionably felt through their music. As a couple, their ministry is simply a reflection of what they hold most dear: knowing Jesus and helping others know Him too.
Longing to create spaces for intimate worship, their heart is clear: “When we worship, we’re stepping into the very thing we were created for – connecting to God.” It’s the core of their mission. Their goal isn’t to merely perform on platforms or play concerts at venues. It’s to draw near to their Heavenly Father and invite everyone around them to do the same. Becoming voices beyond their singing ability, Cody and Kari exemplify how worship is an all-encompassing journey, not limited to conferences or Sunday mornings but deeply woven into the fabric of everyday life. Their awards and accolades speak to their talent and gifting but in the end, those things aren’t the reason for what they do. Their motive has been and always will be Jesus. Now residing in Nashville, Tennessee, Kari and Cody are committed to traveling the globe, helping people encounter God through their collaborative music and ministry in real, personal ways. When not on tour, they cherish time at home with their two boys, Canyon and Kingston, and they both regularly serve at their church, The Belonging Co.
Bethel Music is a worship movement pursuing the presence of God and capturing fresh expressions of worship out of Redding, California. Bethel Music has grown from a local church music ministry to an internationally renowned collective of songwriters, artists and musicians. Brian and Jenn Johnson co-founded the movement in 2001 to raise up worshippers to take hold of their true identities, and pursue intimacy with God, above all else.
Since 2001, the Bethel Music collective has released 17 worship albums including Homecoming (2021), Peace (2021), Simple (2022), Come Up Here (2023), and Moments: Wait (Live) (2024). Each album carries a unique theme and features some of the most well-recognized artists in the genre. In 2021, the label was nominated for six Dove Awards, and another 11 in 2022, spanning across categories like “Songwriter of the Year,” “Worship Album of the Year,” and “Inspirational and Rock/Contemporary Song of the Year.” Most recently, Bethel Music released We Must Respond, one of the most anticipated albums of the16 years as a label. Several singles off the new album include “No One Like The Lord (Live),” “If The Lord (Live),” and “Even Though I Walk (Live)” featuring artists including Jenn Johnson, Zahriya Zachary, and Hannah McClure.
Since forming, Bethel Music has broken records, ranking in CCLI’s Top 25 songs since 2013. Their song, “This Is Amazing Grace,” has ranked in the Top 25 songs since 2014; “No Longer Slaves” since 2016; and “The Lion and the Lamb” since 2017. In addition, “Goodness of God” has appeared in the Top 5 since 2019; “Reckless Love” in the Top 10 since 2018; and “Living Hope” in the Top 10 since 2019. Hitting a new stride over the last few years, Bethel Music has continually ranked at #6 in the Top 10 radio market share.
